Pleading for help!!
Been back in Singapore for a little more than three weeks and yet I feel I have achieved nothing except seeing a lot of people! I regret I have neglected quite a few bunch of people, not that I purposely want to neglect them but I just doesn't have time and money for it. Every outing requires money and time and I have limited resources for both. Hmmm.. How about some donations to the needy? (ME!!!)
So what have I been doing all these while other than meeting up with a lot of people. Well, one thing is I have been trying to access into my HDD which I have problem trying to that. I certainly hope I'm still able to rescue my data from it. Here's what actually happen and I seriously hope someone will be able to help me with it, if you happen to know or know someone who can help, pleassssseeeeeee let me know!!! Getting a little panicky about it, I have like thousands of photos in it!
I brought back my HDD back from Australia, the HDD is running using SATA and my operating system is Windows XP Professional. The HDD is split and formatted into 2 main NTFS partition, a 30GB partition and a 50GB partition. The operating system is installed into the 30GB partition and in the 50GB partition it contains all my other stuffs, i.e. pictures, assignments, projects, thesis, presentations, researches, lecture notes, basically my life is stored in it. As we understand Windows XP Professional has the ability to add security features into the drive especially so on NTFS drives.
However, my Singapore PC, operating on Windows XP Home edition has a screwed up SATA HDD which is about to crash! Not knowing that, I plugged my HDD into the system and power on it and before it prompt for the login screen, it start performing a Disk Check on my HDD drives. It then showed an invalid key in my HDD and starts replacing all the invalid keys with a key of its own. I reckon it has replaced the whole 50GB of my HDD as it took nearly 2 hours to complete the whole process and a few millions key were replaced.
Now even if I were to boot up directly from my HDD I am only able to access the 30GB of my HDD. Although it is still showing the directory of my 50GB partition, it only displayed that the drive is invalid and a quick check in properties show that the drive contains 0KB of datas on a 0KB drive. I've tried accessing my HDD using a program that read NTFS drive without going through windows, the program is running a 'raw' kernel, but to no avail! Please help me!!!!! I really need the data, not very urgent yet but as time draws nearer, I reckon my balls will also start to "shrink".
I thought of running my HDD using linux system but I don't think I can find anyone who has such a system here with SATA capability.
